Bird Walks and Trips

A guide makes learning faster, easier and more fun for beginning birders, and makes time in the field more productive for traveling birders in search of local specialties. Whatever your needs and interests, I'll help you create the perfect excursion.

The Natural Path also offers a wide variety of special birding programs in all seasons: Spring Songbirds, Learn Your Shorebirds, Herons & Egrets, Hawks in Flight, Winter Waterfowl, Snowy Owl Prowl, Bald Eagles and more!

For Experienced Birders

I specialize in locating Bicknell's Thrush in New Hampshire's White Mountains, as well as in Maine. Whatever your time constraints and aptitude for hiking, I can maximize your opportunities to see and hear this elusive, magical species.

Having participated in research on both species, I am also expert in locating and positively identifying Nelson's and Saltmarsh Sharp-tailed Sparrows. You will not find a better guide to show you these notoriously hard-to-see, look-alike birds.

I'm also highly qualified to help you find boreal specialties like Spruce Grouse, Boreal Chickadee, Black-backed Woodpecker, Gray Jay and boreal warblers in beautiful, accessible settings. If you enjoy a great birding hike, I'll be overjoyed to show you the best northern New England has to offer, in any season.

For New Birders

To appreciate birds it helps to know where to look for them at different times of year. It's also important to have good binoculars. And wouldn't it be great to have a knowledgeable guide along to point things out and answer questions?

A little support can add up to a lot more fun -- and that's what The Natural Path is all about! My walks include a relaxed mix of bird ID and natural history mentoring. I thoroughly enjoy supporting new birders to connect with the magic of birds.
